Background

Research and Publication

This segment will cater for researchers, providing information on grants and fellowships, and encouraging staff to apply. It will bring together all research being undertaken by scholars in the humanistic departments of our university, support them, and provide advice on the dissemination and publication of research findings. It will also take care of all publications (journals, monographs, compendiums, etc) under the auspices of the Centre. An important strand of this segment is research fellowship granted scholars interested in working on indigenous literatures and cultures.

 

Training and Development

This segment will take care of research activities aimed at training and developing staff of IBBUL and the public. Such activities include conferences, workshops, symposiums, colloquiums, public lectures, etc.

 

Academic Programmes

This segment will provide certificate, diploma and postgraduate programmes in the fields of creative writing, performance, film, photography, traditional arts and craft (pottery, weaving, knitting), etc.

 

Consultancy

This segment will provide commercial activities to the university community and the society. The activities include writing services, editorial services, performance services, among others.

To be a globally recognized centre for research, scholarship and training in artistic creativity and
indigenous cultures

The mission of CAIS is to promote research, scholarship and training in artistic creativity and indigenous cultures, to encourage international network and cooperation, to contribute to present and future debates
about the roles of artists and indigenous peoples in building strong societies. Above all, CAIS will provide the avenue for the production and dissemination of indigenous knowledge that will benefit the entire world.
