IBBUL ALUMNI COMES ON BOARD AS VICE CHANCELLOR INAUGURATES NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The National Alumni Association of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai as come on board with the inauguration of the Executive Council members by the Vice Chancellor Professor Abu Kasim Adamu.

The Vice Chancellor who inaugurated members in the Management meeting Room in Lapai charged them to live by example.

Professor Adamu explained that the pioneer national Executive Council should set the pace on a good footing for others to follow, stressing the need for them to be good ambassadors of the University which will interface between the members of the Alumni and the University Management as well as the larger society.

He added the need for the Alumni to give back to their Alma mata cannot be overemphasized in terms of physical infrastructures and also in kind and in cash.

He further promised that if the Association grew in good pace, the University Management will not hesitate to make submissions to Institution’s Council to include the Association as part of the decision making body of the University.

While officially presenting the Alumni EXCO members to the University Management for formal inauguration,

the Director Development, whose office is in charge of the alumni, Mr. Godwin Ashituabe explained that the University Management has invested a lot to reorganize the Alumni and review the Association’s constitution via the Management Committee that was set up which led to the adoption of the constitution.

This, he said, brought about the election which was

held during the maiden Congress on the 25th of November 2023.

He also urged the EXCO to leave up to its responsibilities to deliver some of their campaigns promises.

Responding, the National President of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai Alumni Association, Comrade Mohammed Sani Muhammad appreciated the Management of the University for their relentless support towards actualising the Association.

He promised to ensure that his team will do its best to support the University in areas of need as a way of giving back to their Alma Mata through connections with politicians, philanthropist and donor agencies to support the University in areas of deficit infrastructure.

Comrade Sani Muhammad Sani also promised to set the pace for others to follow to lay a solid foundation that will stand the test of time.

In his remarks, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki enjoyed the Alumni EXCO to work towards giving back to their Alma mata, saying Alumni Association is not like that of the Students Union Government, SUG where dues are collected from students and shared among the executives.

He pointed out that that Alumni executives are expected to go for support grants from donors to support the University.

He then saluted the Director Development, Mr Godwin Ashituabe, for a job weldone in ensuring that the Association had all it takes to stand on its own and also conduct Congress that brought about the emergence of the present executive.
